Who We Are

What Registration With the CKO Really Means
Kinesiology became a regulated health profession in Ontario, which means the title carries obligations that an unregulated job title simply does not.

Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario requires an approved degree, an entry examination and ongoing quality assurance. It also brings a complaints process, a public register and a scope of practice with defined limits. Anyone may call themselves a trainer, but only a registrant can use the title Registered Kinesiologist. For patients near Pomona Mills Park and Thornhill Village, that distinction is what separates a rehabilitation program from general fitness instruction.

Chiropractors, physiotherapists, and registered massage therapists collaborating under one roof, so your care is coordinated, not fragmented.

We assess how your body actually moves, then build a treatment plan that restores function from the foundation up. Kinetic. Core. Foundation.

“A protected title carries obligations a job title does not.”

Regulation is not a claim about any individual being better at their work. It is a statement that a standard exists, that someone verified it was met, and that there is somewhere to go if it is not upheld. For rehabilitation after an injury or surgery, that structure is worth having behind the program.

What We Offer

The Full Range Available to Thornhill Patients

Several regulated professions work in this building, each with its own college, scope and standards. These are the other services at our Highway 7 clinic, set out with the regulatory position noted where it matters to you as a patient.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care icon illustrating spinal adjustments and posture correction.

Chiropractic care is delivered by chiropractors regulated by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, which is a separate college with its own scope, its own standards and its own public register.

Physiotherapy

Registered massage therapy treatment and recovery at KC Rehab.

Physiotherapy is regulated by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and the scopes of physiotherapy and of kinesiology will overlap in some places while differing quite a bit in others.

Registered Massage Therapy

Multidisciplinary rehabilitation services and care at KC Rehab in Markham.

Massage therapy is provided by registered massage therapists regulated by their own Ontario college, which is precisely what the word registered in that title is signalling to you as a patient.

Acupuncture

Spinal adjustment icon representing chiropractic care and postural restrictions.

Acupuncture is a controlled act in Ontario, performed only by practitioners whose own college has specifically authorised them to do it as part of their regulated scope of practice.

Class IV K-Laser Therapy

Class IV K-Laser therapy icon representing painless laser treatment and cellular repair.

Class IV laser therapy is a modality rather than a profession, delivered here by regulated practitioners as part of whatever scope of practice their own college has already defined for them.

Custom Orthotics

Custom orthotics and foot support for plantar fasciitis and gait dysfunction.

Custom orthotics are assessed and cast on site by regulated practitioners, and the coverage available for them usually depends on which profession has issued the prescription itself.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Exercise rehabilitation and strength rebuilding at KC Rehab.

Exercise rehabilitation is the subject of this page, delivered by a Registered Kinesiologist whose title, standards and complaints process all sit with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic floor therapy icon illustrating pelvic region and core strength.

Pelvic floor therapy is a physiotherapy specialty, delivered privately by a physiotherapist who holds additional pelvic health training well beyond their general registration itself.

Pediatric & Pregnancy Chiropractic

Pregnant woman icon representing pregnancy and postpartum recovery physiotherapy.

Pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic is provided by chiropractors under the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, using gentle low force techniques that are aimed at musculoskeletal comfort only.

How It Works

Your Path from Pain to Lasting Movement

Every patient at KC Rehab follows the same proven four step process, designed to uncover the root cause of your pain or restriction and build a recovery plan that actually lasts.

Step 1

Consultation and Assessment

Your first visit begins with a detailed conversation about your history, lifestyle, and goals. We then perform a hands on movement assessment to identify the underlying mechanics behind your symptoms.

Step 2

Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment findings, we build a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, goals, and timeline. This may combine chiropractic, physiotherapy, RMT, acupuncture, and exercise rehabilitation.

Step 3

Active Treatment & Therapy

Your plan comes to life through manual therapy, targeted exercise, and the modalities best suited to your condition. Every session is monitored and adjusted based on your progress.

Step 4

Ongoing Care & Prevention

Once you have recovered, we equip you with the exercises, ergonomic advice, and maintenance schedule you need to stay pain-free and continue moving well for years to come.

Why CHoose Us

Why Thornhill Patients Ask About Credentials

Asking who is delivering your care is a reasonable question and we would rather you asked it. A course of exercise rehabilitation here is run by a Registered Kinesiologist you can look up on a public register, working within a defined scope of practice.

Registered With the CKO

The kinesiologist here holds registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario, which sets the entry standards and the ongoing requirements.

A Public Register You Can Check

Registration status is published and searchable, so you can verify a practitioner yourself before booking rather than taking anyone’s word for it.

Insurers Recognise the Title

A growing number of extended health plans cover kinesiology specifically, which they will not do for services delivered outside a regulated profession.

Several Disciplines, One Clinic

Regulated practitioners from several colleges share the building, so a plan can move between scopes without you being sent somewhere else entirely.

RESTORE. REBUILD. RECOVER.

Whether it has been a week or a decade, you do not have to keep adjusting your life around pain. Book your initial assessment at KC Rehab today and find out what real, movement based recovery actually feels like.

Frequent Asked Questions

It is a protected title in Ontario held only by practitioners registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Registration requires an approved degree and an entry examination, and it brings a public register, a defined scope of practice and a formal complaints process.

Each Ontario health college publishes a searchable public register, and kinesiology is no exception to that. You can contact us and we will give you the practitioner’s full name so you can look them up for yourself before deciding whether to book anything at all with the clinic.

Chiropractic, physiotherapy, registered massage therapy and kinesiology all operate at KinetiCore Rehabilitation Centre under their own colleges. Each one of them has quite separate entry standards, a distinct scope of practice and its own complaints process available to any patient.

Highway 7 east is direct, though the middle of the day moves considerably better than the evening peak does. Parking outside our entrance is free of charge at all hours. Patients from German Mills join the same road a little further along toward us, and they arrive here just as quickly.

Yes, the same practitioner covers the whole catchment and there is no separate arrangement by neighbourhood. Bayview Glen sits along the very same Highway 7 corridor as Thornhill does. Our Bayview Glen page sets out this service with the local detail for that area, and parking is free.

Trainer is not a protected title, so there is no common standard, no public register and no complaints body behind it. Many trainers are highly capable people at what they do. The difference matters most after an injury or surgery, where accountability and scope carry real weight.

Yes, Grandview sits west of Thornhill and the drive east along Highway 7 is direct from either neighbourhood. Free parking is available immediately outside our clinic entrance. Residents can read our Grandview page for this service described with the local detail for that area.
