Who We Are

Why Uneven Ground Loads the Hips Differently
Trail walking asks the hip stabilisers to correct constantly on uneven ground, which loads them a great deal more than any flat paved route does.

Walkers travelling south east from Yonge Street and the Jefferson Forest trails book treatment across the gluteus medius, tensor fasciae latae, piriformis and the iliotibial band. Descents load these hardest, since the muscles work while lengthening, and that is where next-day soreness originates. Treatment combines broad work across the lateral hip with slower technique through the deep glutes. Ankle and hip mobility are reviewed, because stiff ankles push more correction upward into the hip.

Chiropractors, physiotherapists, and registered massage therapists collaborating under one roof, so your care is coordinated, not fragmented.

We assess how your body actually moves, then build a treatment plan that restores function from the foundation up. Kinetic. Core. Foundation.

“Descending a trail costs the hips more than the climb does”

Most walkers expect the climb to be the hard part, and the legs report otherwise the following morning. Going downhill asks muscle to control the descent while lengthening, which produces more soreness than the effort of going up. Treatment aimed at the lateral hip and glutes addresses where that load truly lands.

What We Offer

Related Care Under the Same Roof

Hip and trail-related complaints often involve joint restriction or strength gaps as well as muscle, and several professions share the Highway 7 clinic. Jefferson patients can arrange two appointments across a single visit to Highway 7.

Chiropractic Care

Sacroiliac and lumbar restriction changes how the pelvis handles uneven ground, and chiropractic care treats those joints using spinal adjustment while soft tissue work covers the lateral hip.

Physiotherapy

Recurring lateral hip pain deserves proper testing, and a physiotherapy assessment measures hip abductor strength and single leg control carefully before building a graded exercise programme.

Registered Massage Therapy

Registered massage therapy anchors this page, with CMTO registered therapists working across the gluteus medius, tensor fasciae latae and iliotibial band that trail walking loads most heavily.

Acupuncture

Deep glute tightness that refers down into the thigh sometimes eases through acupuncture, a drug-free option using fine sterile single-use needles placed by a registered acupuncturist.

Class IV K-Laser Therapy

Irritated tissue at the outer hip can be treated using Class IV laser therapy, which delivers deep therapeutic light into the region in a few minutes alongside the soft tissue work.

Custom Orthotics

Foot position on uneven ground affects the whole chain, and custom orthotics assessed and cast here on site can improve stability through both hiking boots and everyday walking footwear.

Exercise Rehabilitation

Hip abductor strengthening through exercise rehabilitation with a Registered Kinesiologist builds exactly the control that uneven terrain keeps demanding across a long day of walking.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic symptoms that appear during longer walks can be assessed through pelvic floor therapy privately with a registered physiotherapist trained in pelvic health, in a dedicated treatment room.

Pediatric & Pregnancy Chiropractic

Walking families sometimes add pediatric and pregnancy chiropractic, offering gentle, low-force care for musculoskeletal comfort during pregnancy and for children’s general wellbeing.

How It Works

Your Path from Pain to Lasting Movement

Every patient at KC Rehab follows the same proven four-step process, designed to uncover the root cause of your pain or restriction and build a recovery plan that actually lasts.

Step 1

Consultation and Assessment

Your first visit begins with a detailed conversation about your history, lifestyle, and goals. We then perform a hands on movement assessment to identify the underlying mechanics behind your symptoms.

Step 2

Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment findings, we build a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, goals, and timeline. This may combine chiropractic, physiotherapy, RMT, acupuncture, and exercise rehabilitation.

Step 3

Active Treatment & Therapy

Your plan comes to life through manual therapy, targeted exercise, and the modalities best suited to your condition. Every session is monitored and adjusted based on your progress.

Step 4

Ongoing Care & Prevention

Once you have recovered, we equip you with the exercises, ergonomic advice, and maintenance schedule you need to stay pain-free and continue moving well for years to come.

Why CHoose Us

Treatment Aimed at the Lateral Hip

Jefferson walkers choose our massage therapy because the lateral hip and deep glutes receive proper attention rather than a passing sweep. Ankle mobility is checked as well, therapists are CMTO registered, and weekend appointments are available for walkers.

Deep glute work included

Piriformis and gluteus medius are treated specifically, since these are the structures that uneven ground loads and that refer pain into the thigh.

Ankle mobility reviewed

Stiff ankles push correction upward into the hip on uneven terrain, so ankle range is checked as part of assessing a lateral hip complaint.

Weekend appointments

Saturday bookings suit walkers who use the trails on midweek evenings and want treatment before the next long weekend outing on the trails.

Registered therapists, free parking

Therapists are CMTO registered and parking costs nothing outside the door, which keeps the trip south east as simple as it can be.

RESTORE. REBUILD. RECOVER.

Whether it has been a week or a decade, you do not have to keep adjusting your life around pain. Book your initial assessment at KC Rehab today and find out what real, movement based recovery actually feels like.

Frequent Asked Questions

Why are my hips sore the day after a trail walk?

Downhill sections load the hip and thigh muscles while they lengthen, which produces more next-day soreness than the climb does. Uneven footing adds constant small corrections as well. Both together explain why a trail walk leaves the hips sorer than a considerably longer road walk.

Soft tissue treatment of the tensor fasciae latae and gluteus medius reduces the tension transmitted through the iliotibial band. The iliotibial band itself has very little give in it. Walkers from Oak Ridges usually find that treating the muscles above it works considerably better.

Walking usually continues at reduced distance, with steep descents limited while the lateral hip tissue recovers. Complete rest is rarely necessary or particularly helpful in these cases. Patients from Richmond Hill adjust terrain and distance rather than stopping walking altogether.

Moderate sustained pressure reaches the deep glute muscles effectively, and heavier work is not automatically more useful. Depth is always agreed with you before any treatment begins. This region often responds well to slower technique held for longer rather than to sheer force.

Saturday appointments are released weekly and suit walkers wanting treatment between weekend outings. Saturday slots tend to fill early in the week itself, particularly through the summer months. You can contact us to ask about current weekend availability across the coming fortnight.

Worn or unsupportive footwear changes foot position on uneven ground, and that alters how much correction the hip must provide. Boot age is always worth checking as a first step. Foot assessment is available in the same building where footwear appears to be contributing to the pattern.

Chiropractic care, physiotherapy, acupuncture, laser therapy, kinesiology, orthotics and pelvic health services all operate from one address. KinetiCore Rehabilitation Centre coordinates the bookings, which helps when hip tightness involves both muscle and joint restriction through the pelvis.
